Created by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Media Distribution, Fresh Beat Band: The Wizard of Song hits shelves on DVD on August 14, 2012, for the suggested retail price of $14.99.
Episodes:
The Wizard of Song
When Marina gets swept up into a windstorm, she lands in Oz where she meets Glinda the Good Witch (Sarah Chalke). Along the way, she befriends a Scarecrow (Twist), a Tin Woods-Woman (Kiki), and a Lion (Shout) and they go to the Wizard of Song (Jason Mraz) so that Marina can find her way home.
Ghost Band
The Fresh Beats run into a ghost band when they get a gig in a western town. They face-off against the ghosts in a musical showdown and discover that the ghosts are misunderstood. So they work together to bring people back to the town.
Chimps in Charge
The Fresh Beats help their friend Harper babysit a pair of chimps who are a lot to handle. Marina gets the idea to build a jungle gym for the chimps in the park and the Fresh Beats find a perfect song to rock their show.
About 88 minutes long
My thoughts…So one thing I have to admit is…I’ve never seen the Wizards of Oz all the way through – just very vague bits and pieces here and there. Alas, I somehow know most of the story line, because I have seen many references of the movie. So when I was given the opportunity to review Fresh Beat Band’s version, I jumped at the chance. Not only are my kiddos HUGE fans of Fresh Beat Band, but I also wanted them to enjoy the old classic in a kid friendly & relatible way!
They typically watch the dvd’s we get for review a hundred times over and this one was no exception…I actually think it burned out our blu-ray player that is not working at this moment. Luckily we have a back up/regular dvd player. Anywho, they’ ve seen it several times with Daddy or with me in passing – but I recently got a chance to sit down with them and really watch it. The kiddos were singing along, dancing & telling ME what was going to happen next. I loved that it has regular Fresh Beat Band episodes too! But the Wizard of Song movie was great, especially because they brought in an actress I was familiar with and could relate with, given this was a bunch of kids episodes!
