As long as I can remember, I’ve been using Crayola products to have fun, be creative and make some cool things. Now my kids get to experience the same, but with more modern & improved technology. The kids typically doing crafts at school and we have Crayola Crayons at home, honestly I don’t know where to start with stocking up on crafty things for my kids. Luckily we were recently sent a Crayola Digital Light Designer and Marker Airbrush.
With the Crayola Marker Airbrush, kids can create amazing airbrush effects on paper, fabrics, and windows. The Marker Airbrush is kid-powered and works with a simple hand pump, and can be used with any of Crayola’s Classic Washable Broadline Markers, Washable Broadline Window Markers, or new Bright Fabric Broadline Markers.
The Marker Airbrush is a MUST have on the Christmas or Birthday list for a child. It’s the easiest & most fun toy I’ve come across in a while! It’s as easy as using a marker the normal way, but this has a couple extra steps that pay off in FUN! All you have to do is snap in a Crayola Marker, pump the Airbrush maker and spray on paper OR fabric. There is no batteries needed to make your masterpieces…and as a Mom, that’s amazing.
We do have to make sure we don’t have the spray nozzle too close to the paper, or it will leave blotches of color. Also, we noticed that our colors would bubble up from the nozzle sometimes. Either we’d wipe it clean or use it as decoration in our masterpieces.
With Crayola’s Digital Light Designer, kids can draw with lights to create, animate and play. The Digital Light Designer uses LED technology as the medium to bring kids’ colorful ideas to life on a 360-degree domed drawing surface.
There are three different modes of play, including Draw, Animate, and Play:
- Draw – Using the digital light stylus, kids can select colors and line width to begin free-drawing anywhere on the domed surface, switching between eight different colors
- Animate – Kids can activate their creations with amazing special effects, making them spin, change colors, melt, or even mix up the drawings
- Play – With 8 different interactive games and activity apps, kids can spend hours creating or just doodling with Rainbow Draw, magically duplicate their creations with Mirror Draw, create funny animated faces, play interactive mazes, and more
We didn’t have much luck with the Digital Light Designer. The concept of the product is very cool, however there is a couple drawbacks. One, because it required batteries…big batteries & lots of batteries. Second, the instructions were not easy to follow. We had to go online and watch the tutorial on YouTube. THAT was a great help. Third, even after watching the tutorial and how simple it was, it lite up but would not allow us to choose anything or go any further. It is quite upsetting, especially knowing how much the product cost and it is now going to waste.
Maybe they’ll go on sale one day or the kids will get one as a gift, but as it stands, I would not buy one.
