I long for the days I have the time & energy to cook, it means less processed & much more healthy food. But we still have to remember moderation. When I cook, I like to make meals that are simple, quick and require the least amount of ingredients as possible.
That’s why I always use Del Monte canned vegetables & fruits to help me out. I know they are good for us and all I have to do is open the can and heat it up in a bowl in the microwave or on the stove. With fruit, I just open the can and store it in a bowl in the fridge until we are ready to eat.
Check out the Del Monte “Add Some Garden” contest, by going to the Del Monte Facebook page from November 5th through February 4th. While there, you can enter for a chance to win one of the many prizes, including kitchen appliances AND $25 or $500 gift cards to Williams Sonoma!
There are five phases during the contest, where Del Monte will feature a different canned variety every two weeks:
Green beans (November 5- November 18)
Corn (November 19- December 2)
Tomatoes (December 3- December 16)
Peaches (January 7- January 20)
Pears (January 21- February 3)
Fans will have five days during each phase to submit their best tips and consumers will be able to vote for their favorite tip during the second week of each phase. The five winning tips for each phase will then go head-to-head for a chance to win a Grand Prize culinary travel adventure, valued at $10,000, which will be announced February 15th.
I like to to use Del Monte Green Beans in my Green Bean Casserole, that we frequently eat with our meals during the Fall/Winter season. Any other day, they are just a normal side dish to compliment our meals.
For the canned corn, I’m a bit picky and only like regular corn…not creamed or sweet. I use Del Monte’s Whole Kernel Corn in my Shephard’s pie that is whipped up pretty frequently, along with canned Sweet Peas.
Diced Tomatoes are used best in a number of dishes I cook throughout the year, including Cheese Sausage & Tomato Dip, Turkey Tomato Rice Soup, Stuffed Cabbage and Stuffed Peppers.
We really enjoy making the most of the canned goods Del Monte has to offer, especially the canned Fruit. If I can’t get it fresh, I turn to their cans. I always get it in Lite Syrup or natural syrup. Everything tastes so good and I take full credit for it
But I’m equally thankful to the wonderful company that makes it all happen!
