Be heard. Be strong. Be proud. Disney invites audiences of all ages to turn up the music and have some fun with the highly-anticipated 2-Disc DVD + Digital Copy debut of LEMONADE MOUTH, the hit Disney Channel Original Movie, starring Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Hayley Kiyoko, Naomi Scott, Blake Michael, Nick Roux, Chris Brochu, Tisha Campbell-Martin and Christopher McDonald, and featuring an exclusive extended music scene that fans can only get on this Extended Edition DVD release.

In addition to featuring 10 awesome original songs from the No. 1 soundtrack, the exciting LEMONADE MOUTH: EXTENDED EDITION DVD release includes an exclusive extended performance of ‘Livin’ on a High Wire’ and an exciting ‘Rock-Along’ version of the movie that allows fans to sing along, with lyrics to all the songs, appearing on-screen. Both features are available only on the DVD that debuts in the US on May 24, 2011 (Canada on May 17, 2011).

LEMONADE MOUTHis a resonant, music-filled movie about five teens who break through to become the voice of their generation. The movie is 2011’s No. 1 cable movie in Total Viewers and the No. 1 TV movie among Kids 6-11 and Tweens. Additionally, LEMONADE MOUTH’s original soundtrack also has become a huge success, ranking in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200 for two weeks, No. 1 on the iTunes Soundtrack chart and No. 4 on the iTunes Album chart. The album also ranked No. 1 on Billboard’s Soundtrack and Children’s Music charts. Moreover, hit songs “Somebody,” “Determinate” and “Don’t Ya Wish U Were Us” rank in the Radio Disney Top 30.

This spirited, music-driven movie introduces an unlikely ensemble of five students — Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini and Charlie – who, after meeting in detention, gradually realize their shared musical connection and belief that it’s time for the students of Mesa High to stand up and be heard on things big and small (ranging from the school Principal’s exclusive support of the athletic programs to the removal of the popular organic lemonade from the cafeteria). Ultimately, as they open up to each other and form friendships, they start a band — Lemonade Mouth — that soon resonates with students sidelined by the high school elite. However, not everyone in the school is ready to cheer them on, especially since the popular rock group Mudslide Crush is determined to maintain their headline status and win the coveted Rising Star music competition.

Based on the book Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes and directed by award-winning Patricia Riggen (La Misma Luna aka Under the Same Moon), executive-produced by Debra Martin Chase (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Disney Channel’s “The Cheetah Girls” movies), co-produced by Gaylyn Fraiche (Just Wright, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2) and choreographed by Chris Scott (TV’s “So You Think You Can Dance”).

About 107 minutes long.

My thoughtsWe My husband had to watch caught Lemonade Mouth when it first premiered on the Disney Channel. I’m not sure what appealed to him, other than his love for music. My 4 1/2 year old also watched it with him and I have also caught it a few times since then. The only problem for me, is I never was able to watch it all the way through. Now I don’t have to worry about that, since we have it on DVD, thanks to Disney!

The more and more I watch this movie, I like it even more. I love this band/dvd and wish it wasn’t just in the movie.

As a Mom, I appreciate…”Be Heard, Be Strong, Be Proud”. It’s very empowering and I’ve noticed even more movies and tv shows having an underlying presence that reflects this motto. Or maybe it’s just my choice in viewing material lately. I personally prefer good, wholesome movies and dvds – that helps pass it onto the kids.

Where do I begin on my favorite parts?! I was thrilled and love the song “determinate”. I like the story about how they met in detention and never knew each other. Then it all just fell into place. You had the typical ‘popular’ kids that get their way and try to ruin things, that only made Lemonade Mouth stronger and more determined.

Just as a family, this fit us well. My husband loves music and so do I. And almost as if it’s rubbed off on the kids, especially my daughter. I could totally see her rocking it one day!

I did like the extended piece. It could have been a bit longer, maybe, but I liked the interview and the diversion Olivia made…a true friend.

I received a complementary copy of the dvd to write my review and I have NOT been compensated in any other way. This post was written with MY opinion ONLY. Thank you!
